About us

Four generations united in passion and dedication

Four generations live at Gramona, from our youngest teenagers to our 91-year-old nonno. The farm was established in 1980 by Irena, then a young and keen agronomist, with the essential help of her father, Pavel. Firstly, the fruit and vegetable farm gradually converted to an olive farm. Nina and Andy, both landscape architects, took over the management of the farm in 2012 when they returned home from many years abroad in Australia with their two young children, Mia and Alek. Andy worked tirelessly to introduce permaculture practices and regenerative principles into Gramona’s production. Nina had the vision of “opening the farm to the public,” developing today’s popular Olive Tours and tastings for tourists, school groups, and all oil lovers! Family values are the core of the farm, and without each other’s support, the work at Gramona could not thrive successfully. Every member of the family is a piece in our marvelous puzzle, and we are immensely grateful for the abundance this brings to our lives!

Meet Our Family Team

Nina

Nina loves working with people and takes care of guests, groups, and all tour bookings. She guides most of our tours and leads olive oil tastings, passionately sharing knowledge about healthy food and lifestyle with our visitors. Additionally, she handles public relations, bureaucratic tasks, orders, promotions, and other administrative duties with enthusiasm.

Andy

Andy manages the production at the farm, which includes implementing sustainable and regenerative practices at Gramona. From soil improvement, planting, pruning, and general maintenance to harvesting, he works hard to keep the farm in great shape! He is passionate about sustainable land management and is constantly improving the farm’s practices. Andy also assists with running our Olive Tours and ensures we don’t run out of bottles on our shelves.

Irena

Irena is an agronomist with her heart and soul! After working as an agricultural adviser specializing in fruit and olives all her life, she retired from her job and is now working even more at the farm. Her contribution at Gramona is essential as she works with Andy planning the production, soil improvement methods, pest control, and harvest. Last but not least, she loves our vegetable garden and ensures we always have plenty of healthy vegetables for the whole family!

Mia

Mia is the elder of our marvelous teenagers, who are keeping us young at heart. She is a people person and already helps with guiding our Olive Tours, as well as preparing the produce (including making her own olive oil lavender ointment – a must-try), labeling the bottles, and stocking the shelves. She lovingly assists in caring for our farm animals as well. You can find Mia welcoming you with a warm smile at our Farm Shop.

Alek

Alek prefers the “behind the scenes” tasks at the farm, mowing the grass, driving the rider, and helping with loading the wood, boxes of produce, and the like! He helps in looking after our farm animals, and you are likely to be served by him at our Farm Shop!

Pavel

Pavel, our amazing nonno, is still active and full of life at 91 years old! He strolls through the olive groves most days and still helps with some work, collecting branches during pruning time and the like. Most importantly, he keeps our spirits high with wise advice whenever necessary. And he cuts an enormous amount of olive wood for the winter fireplace
